SECRETS

Skyler Hagner

SECRETS is a multimedia project exploring paranoia, fear, and anxiety. Viewers are led to consider biological and emotional turmoil simultaneously with classified material that holds larger conspiratorial implications. The visual language was developed as a means to juxtapose natural elements with man-made ones to mimic the relationship between electronic and acoustic sound. Classic film techniques, like superimposition, were created with blending modes to imitate the layering and spectral imaging effects used to process the sound.

Skyler Hagner

Skyler Hagner’s electronic work explores permanence, transience, and fear. He uses these pieces to process his own experience with imposter syndrome, worries about his career and life, and his physical presence on this planet. His electronic work frequently features vocal samples, fragments, and dense acoustic textures processed in a variety of ways. Other times he uses sonic photography techniques to create vivid landscapes and distorted aural memories of places he has been.
